Presto design premium quality of Cobb Sizing Tester for determination of water absorptiveness by a paper in a given period of time. The cobb value of the substance means the quantity of water which is absorbed in a particular period by the fiberboard under different conditions. The testing machine provides accurate results. The determination of water absorptiveness can be done by measuring the strength and adequacy level of the paperboard in which the test specimen is first weighed and then placed on water resistant rubber base inside the cylindrical ring. Now the container is filled with sufficient quantity of water by exposing the upper side of the paper to the water. Leave it for some period of time and then the specimen out of the cylinder and drain out the excessive water. Now weigh the specimen to measure its cobb value.
Presto's Cobb Sizing Tester is used for the determination of water absorptiveness of the paper boards. It is a hand operated model which provides the facility of labor intensive clamping and sample positioning. The testing instrument helps to automatically clamp and release the sample easily. The testing machine consists of a cylindrical panel which is clamped to a flat base along with a flexible base to place the sample easily. To perform the test with Cobb Sizing Tester, firstly weight the specimen and place it in the cylindrical panel. Leave the sample in the water for a period of time. Now drain the water out of the cylindrical vessel and keep the specimen out with wet side up. Press the sample with the roller and remove the excessive water from the sample. Now you can measure the value of the specimen by calculating the difference between the actual weight of specimen and weight of the wet specimen. The device provides accurate test results.
