Presto Stantest design and manufactures the best quality of Cobb & Water Absorption Tester. The instrument is designed to quickly estimate the quantity of water that a paperboard or corrugated board can absorb to its maximum in a given period of time. The water penetration of substance or Cobb value of the paper is defined as the mass of the water which absorbed in a particular period of time by a 1 square meter sample of paper or corrugated board in a specified period of time under standard conditions.
The Cobb & Water Absorption Tester measures the amount of water penetration in the sheet of paper. The instrument comprises of a cylindrical container which is clamped on the flat flexible base where the sample of paper is placed. To perform the test first take the weight of the sample then put the sample inside the cylindrical vessel. Now pour 100cc of water onto the sample and leave it for a given period of time. Now take the sample out with the wet side in an upward direction. Now drain the excessive water with the help of the roller, which is provided with the device. Again take the weight of the sample. The weight of the sample is increased after performing the test will be the water absorbent (Cobb Value) of the specimen. The more the water absorbent strength of the paper, low will be its quality and vice versa.
