The bursting factor testing machine is used to measure the bursting strength of paper or strong paper board. Bursting factor calculates the amount of pressure that a paper or textile material can tolerate before it collapses. Change in weight of paper affects bursting factor of a paper. However, bursting strength is calculated by providing a uniform hydraulic pressure while the sample is mounted between two circular clamps and tightened using the geared handle. The hydraulic pressure is applied to the left side of the tester which causes the diaphragm to expand till the sample deformed or ruptured. The bursting strength of the sample is provided in kg/cm2.
A Digital Indicator is provided to display the force required for bursting or complete rupture. The accurate result enables the manufacturer of paper and packaging industries to use the right material for manufacturing the boxes that are sufficient to possess the pressure applied (due to stacking arrangement) during transit or storage.
